What Instagram Can’t Capture: How to (and Why) Write About Travel

By Kristine Fonacier
1 Session
September 27, 2026
1PM to 3:30PM
2F Comuna bldg, 238 Pablo Ocampo Sr. Ext, Makati City, 1203, Metro Manila

A quick photo shows what a place looked like on a good day, in the perfect light. It doesn’t remember what the air smelled like, what the woman at the next table said, or your thoughts as you asked a stranger for directions. Social media rewards the prettiest image, posted fastest. Writing asks for the opposite: a pause first, and then an honest account of what actually happened.

This session is for people who love to travel and want to write about it, whether or not anyone else ever reads a word. You’ll leave with practical tools for noticing, remembering, and shaping your experiences into stories. You may also leave looking a little harder at the world, staying curious after the photo is taken, and caring enough about the places you pass through to try to get them right.

This class may be taken for PHP 1500.
