Mara Cepeda

Mara Cepeda tells stories at the crossroads of politics, diplomacy, defence, and human rights. She is the Philippines Correspondent for The Straits Times and teaches journalism at the University of the Philippines and the Ateneo de Manila University. Before joining ST in 2022, she covered Philippine politics for Rappler. She has also worked with the Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism, Earth Journalism Network, Fyt, and Probe on journalism and media-related projects. She is a fellow of the NUS-IPS and Temasek Foundation’s Asia Journalism Fellowship and the United Nations’ Reham Al-Farra Memorial Journalism Fellowship, and serves as vice president of the Foreign Correspondents Association of the Philippines.
