This introductory class invites participants to explore poetry as both craft and expression, guided by poet and writer Mookie Katigbak-Lacuesta. Through close reading, discussion, and guided writing exercises, participants will be guided through how language, rhythm, imagery, and form come together.

Drawing from her experience as an accomplished poet and literary advocate, Mookie Katigbak-Lacuesta offers practical frameworks and accessible techniques that demystify poetry. Participants will engage with prompts, experiment with voice and form, and learn how to refine their work through revision.

This is a one-of-one class in partnership with Good Intentions Books that may be taken at PHP 1500.

Mookie Katigbak-Lacuesta

Mookie Katigbak-Lacuesta (@mookielacuesta)is an award-winning Filipino poet, editor, and writer. Her work has received First Prize at the Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature and Best Book of Poetry in English at the Philippine National Book Awards. She is the author of the novel Assembling Alice, published by Penguin Southeast Asia. She has also represented the Philippines in major literary festivals around the world.
